Amateur radio operators have always been on the leading edge of communications technology. From local 2-way radio voice communications, to communications through satellites, or communicating worldwide using any of a dozen different digital modes, ham radio has something for everyone. (How about bouncing a radio signal off the moon?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some people become radio operators to practice communicating in emergencies<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others love volunteering at public events<\/a> (marathons, bike races, parades, etc.) to ensure help is never far away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
