These practice sessions help participants familiarize themselves with radio procedures and troubleshoot potential issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emergency Preparedness<\/strong>: We contribute to local emergency preparedness by ensuring their members are ready to provide communication support in the event of a disaster. This includes collaborating with organizations like RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Public Service Events<\/strong>: We participate in public service events, using their radio communication skills to assist with logistics and communication needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skill Development<\/strong>: We provide an environment for members to learn and refine their amateur radio skills, including using the phonetic alphabet, operating on different frequencies, and maintaining their radios.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community Engagement<\/strong>: While the core focus is on radio skills, we fosters a sense of community among amateur radio enthusiasts in the North Bay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We meet each month (generally the 3rd Sunday from 10a-Noon) in person to practice communications skills including how to get on the air, set up your radio, and how to contact another station.
