We had a couple of APRS trackers on the trail for this event, and several comments pertain to how we might improve their utility..
“I think nearly all of us could communicate on 147.330 via the Tam West repeater. If so, how well would APRS work if we parked a mobile digipeater at Tam West for the duration of the event (at least for Dipsea events)? Perhaps this should be our first test. Someone can drive up to the West Peak with the mobile digipeater. Since there are few roads near the course, we would need two or three people to walk parts of the Dipsea carrying trackers. Thoughts? Is that a good idea for the next test?”
Regina included longitude and latitude with maps on the duty roster, which were most helpful.
