As requests are received asking for Amateurs to travel to the areas
\naffected by Hurricane Irma, ARRL officials are reminded that to be
\ncovered under the Volunteer Protection Act or the MOU with the American
\nRed Cross, the requests for volunteers must be submitted through the
\nestablished ARRL\/ARES channels.
\n\u00a0
\nVolunteers wishing to offer their services in disaster relief need to go
\nthrough the proper established channels.
\n\u00a0
\nAny self-deployment or requests made outside of the established channels
\nare not covered under ARRL\u2019s agreements and may not be subject to the
\nprovisions of the Volunteer Protection Act.<\/b>
