She was 66 and<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> had been on the ARRL Headquarters staff for nearly 40 years,<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> starting as a file clerk. She went on to serve as Deputy Circulation<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Manager, Circulation Manager, Publication Sales and Warehouse<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Manager, and as Business Services Manager (including Advertising).<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> She met her husband of 31 years, ARRL Contest Branch Manager Bart<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Jahnke, W9JJ, at Headquarters.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> &#8220;This is a tremendous loss for the ARRL,&#8221; said ARRL CEO Barry<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Shelley, N1VXY. &#8220;Those of us who knew Deb will miss her remarkable<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> spirit and direct approach to both the work of the ARRL and life.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Deb loved the outdoors, including sharing time with family in her<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> flower garden, and with their dogs and her rescue horses.&#8221;<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> She enjoyed the fall foliage, and one of her favorite places to<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> visit was Harkness Memorial State Park on the Connecticut shoreline<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> in Waterford.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> For many years, she was a fixture at Hamvention(r) and at other<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> major Amateur Radio shows, organizing and overseeing the operation<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> of ARRL&#8217;s exhibit and store. Deb Jahnke attended Newington High<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> School and Central Connecticut State University.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> In addition to her husband, she is survived by their daughters<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Samantha and Ashley. No public services are planned at this time.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> The family has requested that contributions be made in Debra<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> Jahnke&#8217;s name to the American Cancer Society, the Shriners Hospitals<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\"> for Children, or St. Jude Children&#8217;s Research Hospital.
